The name Anasazi has two meanings in Navaho, "Ancient Ones" and "Enemy," the Anasazi people resided in the cliff dwellings of the Four Corners Area and are believed to be ancestors to modern Western American tribes.
When we first started hiking in that area, my husband and I discovered the work of a local archeologist whose pass-time was creating new pottery in the style of the Anasazi. He was consciously keeping their art form alive by creating original pieces using the same clay, slip, shapes, designs and firing techniques of the Indian pottery he would unearth. When he passed away I decided to take on his mission in my own way by creating a limited edition series based on all his pottery we have collected over the years.
All are hand-pulled, limited editions of a dozen or so 30"x44" prints, on decal edge paper.
